Frequently Asked Questions

What should I put in my child’s lunchbox?
Lunch is from 12 noon until 12.30 so it is important that you do not put in more than you think your child can comfortably eat in that time – a sandwich, yoghurt or piece of fruit and a drink. There should be no nut products including sesame (houmous) and coconut. Water is always available. Remember snacks are offered in the morning and afternoon during the session as well.

If my child is going to be absent from a session what should I do?
Please inform preschool by phone on the day of the absence stating why they will not be attending. If your child has suffered from sickness or diarrhoea then we will advise you to keep them away from preschool for 48 hours after their last episode. If you are going on holiday then please inform a member of staff before you go away so that it can be marked in the register.

When will my child be eligible for the 15/30 hours of grant?
All children are eligible in the term after their 3rd birthday. If your child’s birthday is before 1st September they will be eligible in the Autumn term, if their birthday is before 1st January they will be eligible in the Spring term and if their birthday is before 1st April they will be eligible in the Summer term.

When will I receive a bill?
Bills are issued in the fourth or fifth week of term. You will only receive an invoice if you are paying for some or all of your child’s sessions at Preschool and not paying for these sessions using the grant. The invoice bill will be for the entire term so half will be in arrears and half in advance.

My child is happily settled into preschool and I would like to increase his/her sessions. What should I do?
Session changes are made each term. You can contact the Admissions secretary at any time, in writing, stating what sessions you would like for the following term. If you have not stated your preferences then the Admissions secretary will contact you in the month before the end of term. Your sessions will be confirmed in writing at the end of each term.

I am unable to attend the Play, Stay and Help session that has been allocated to me. What can I do?
If you are unable to attend at short notice then please contact preschool and they may be able to ask parents dropping off if they would help out. If you know that you will be unable to do a session when the rota is issued then please try and arrange a swap with another parent. It is always useful to know in advance if there are any days which are not convenient to you – the Rota secretary keeps this information so please put this in writing and hand it in at preschool marked for the attention of the Rota secretary.

If you have any other questions then please send us an email or ask a member of staff.
