A Manager or Deputy Manager and Key Persons run each session plus, on some sessions, one parent helper (on a “Play, Stay and Help” basis). The Manager, Deputy Managers and a high proportion of Key Persons hold relevant qualifications and First Aid certificates.

A ratio of a minimum of one adult to every eight children (1:4 for 2 ½ year olds) is always maintained, as required by the 1989 Children’s Act.

All Leaders and Key Persons hold relevant child care qualifications and there is always at least one member of staff who holds a Paediatric First Aid qualification at every session.

Our staff members undergo regular and ongoing training both in house and through the Local Authority.

Most of our staff members have worked here for many years and many of them have had children who attended the Preschool.

Key Persons monitor the development of the children allocated to them at Preschool. We strive to work in partnership with parents/Carers and other settings. You are more than welcome to make an appointment to speak to your child’s Key Person for an update on their progress. Regular contact is made with parents/carers when ‘snap shot’ reports are given each term.

“My Learning Journey” folders are a record of your child’s time with us and include observations, photos and pieces of your child’s work. They are available for you to look at or contribute to at any time, and they are presented to your child when they move on to Primary School. A summary of your child’s development (“My Learning Picture”) is also passed on to their school.

Should you have any concerns about your child then please speak to their Key Person or the Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator(Senco) Rebecca Aitken.
